There are currently 102 cases of unidentified bodies that have been found in the state of Arkansas listed with NAMUS stretching all the way back to 1970.
Those 102 individuals have never been identified, never claimed by a family member or next of kin and no one knows who they are or, in most cases, even the cause of death or the circumstances surrounding the demise of the unidentified person.
Unfortunately, most of these cases are lost causes.
"Cold cases" because of the circumstances and the amount of time that has passed since the bodies were found, many of these cases will never be solved and and despite the best efforts of law enforcement over the years to match missing person reports to those bodies that have been found, the effort to clear these cases is as frustrating as they appear to be futile.
Over the next few months, Today in Fort Smith will look back at some pf these cases with the hope that some detaal might jog the memory of someone out there that can shed some light on these deaths.
