Missing ...or just on the run? The curious case of Megan Tenay Huckaby

Law enforcement officials deal with missing adults all the time, and there is a tendency to sometimes overlook someone who is reported missing unless some sort of foul play is indicated.

Factor in that the adult "missing" person was posting on social media a few days after their disappearance, was spotted in the county in which they reside a few months after going missing and was sighted on a video from Florida a year later, and one tends to wonder just how "missing" that person really is.

But the family of Megan Tenay Huckaby says she could very well be the victim of a controlling and dominating spouse who, like Megan, is also wanted by the law.

Neither of the Huckaby's could be considered model citizens, but a bizarre arrest a few months before she went missing coupled with the outlaw status of her husband makes for an interesting read.

On March 21, 2017, with Benton County Sheriff Office responded to a burglary in progress in Rogers. Once on tthe scene, the investigation led to the discovery of Megan Tenay Huckaby curled up in a basket. Huckaby admitted she had taken Zanax and Zoloft but insisted she didn't know how she had gotten into the house.

The investigation confirmed a burglary in progress, Huckaby was arrested and taken to the Benton County Detention Center where she was later released on a $10,000 bond.

Her husband Tony, who had been handed probation on a 2014 series of drug charges, got arrested again in early fall of 2017 for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and a warrant was issued for his arrest in October. He was issued a Felony Failure to Appear Warrant in November.

Mysteriously, Megan had gone missing before the September arrest of Tony and the last time her family saw her was in Bentonville on July 7. She continued posting on social media for at least a month after that. Tony, now classified as a parole absconder, and Megan disappeared a short time after his arrest.

In September 2018, a year after both were sighted in Siloam Springs and West Siloam Springs, Megan called a relative from a blocked phone number and said she was okay, but wouldn't say where she was.

Family members maintain a Facebook page they use as a filter for information about Megan's whereabouts and they claim she was a victim of domestic violence and that when she was found in the home in 2017 that she was beaten by Tony and left there to die. They also claim that "others" are helping Tony Huckaby to avoid capture.

Megan's family says Tony is controlling and abusive, and they're afraid for her safety.

Police seem to think there may be some validity to those claims, since Megan continues to be listed an "endangered/missing". The police stated both Megan and Tony live a "high-risk lifestyle involving possible narcotics abuse and domestic violence."

Megan is described as a 5'1" 115 pound Caucasian female with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her ears, tongue and navel are pierced and she has a bee sting scar on her chin and a tattoo of a cross on her right foot. She may be using use the last name Rogers.

Tony was 37-years old at the time of Megan's disappearance. He is described as Caucasian, 5'9 and 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a gold front tooth, a tattoo on the left side of his neck and tattoos on both arms. Those close to the situation say he has worked in "storm clean-up" which may explain the sighting in Florida. If you have information that might lead to some closure in his case you are asked to call the Siloam Springs Police Department at 479-524-4119.
