Boone County man who shot at ASP trooper in 2006 found dead in prison cell

An Arkansas prison inmate has been found dead in his cell at the Maximum Security Unit in Tucker.

That's according to a news release issued by the Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC)

The ADC says the body of Michael Spurlock was found shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday during a regular security check. He was pronounced dead minutes later by the unit's medical staff.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) will investigate the death and the ADC will conduct its own internal investigation.

Spurlock, 48, was serving a life sentence for Criminal Attempt at Capital Murder from Boone County for the 2006 shooting of an Arkansas State Police trooper during a traffic stop.
