A 15-year-old boy is dead after an accidental shooting in Helena-West Helena that occurred over the weekend, according to information released by the local police department.
According to Chief James Smith, it happened at an apartment complex in the 600 block of York around 12:30 a.m. Sunday
Officers found the teen unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound.
Chief Smith says the shooting appears to be accidental, stating that the teen was playing with the gun before it went off.
This is an ongoing investigation.
