According to media reports out of northeast Oklahoma. the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman named Denise Grass for first-degree murder and desecration of a corpse in connection with the homicide case involving an amputee who was found dead in his backyard.
The sheriff's office says investigators believe 61-year-old Elvis Dry was killed Thursday, January 5. Deputies say they went to do a welfare check around 3 p.m. on January 20 at the home of Dry in the Park Hill area south central Cherokee County.
They were sent to check on him after they learned that he had not been heard from or seen for several days. Dry was an amputee who used a wheelchair.
While searching the property, deputies found a deceased and burned body lying in the backyard of the home.
They say his wheelchair was found approximately 15 yards away from his body, and it had also been burned.
