The Fort Smith Police Department on Monday (Jan. 28) will welcome its first-ever female Chief of Police in Mimi Glidewell. Glidewell has supported the FSPD for several years, contributing a number of artwork pieces to this agency and always having a supportive word for the men and women in Blue.
Mimi comes to the FSPD from Glidewell Distributing. She along with parents Jim and Carol Glidewell are long-time residents of Fort Smith. Since Chief of Police Nathaniel Clark’s arrival in January 2017, he has been honored to receive a personalized Mimi Original.
The Fort Smith Police Department will welcome Mimi Glidewell with a swearing-in ceremony and “Chief for a Day” festivities starting at 9 a.m. The event is expected to last from 2-3 hours. Refreshments will be provided. Our media partners and the public are invited to attend.
The “Chief for a Day” community outreach program was initiated by Chief Clark in 2017. It seeks to recognize the young people of Fort Smith who each day are making this community a better place.
