Two arrests made in shooting of cab driver near Musset and Newlon Roads




The Fort Smith Police Department made two arrests on Wednesday, February 20 for the shooting of a cab driver in the area of Musset and Newlon Road that occurred on Tuesday.

The incident occurred near Morrison Elementary School which sits at the junction of Musset and Newlon Roads.

Keithan Norris, 19, and Norman Massey, 20, both of Fort Smith were taken into custody and booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. Both have extensive criminal records on a myriad of different charges in addition to the additional second-degree battery charges. in conjunction with the shooting.

Massey was also booked on a contempt charge and faces a $10,000 cash bond o the second degree battery hold.

Additionally, Norris has been charged as a felon in possession of a firearm although not all of his booking information has been posted at this time.

Norris and Massey were located by Fort Smith Police Officers on Wednesday afternoon and arrested without further incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

The male victim was treated at a local hospital before being transferred to a medical facility outside of the area. His injuries, while serious, are not believed to be life-threatening.
