Arkansas State Police report reveals identity of Thursday crash victim in south Fort Smith
Friday night the Arkansas State Police released a preliminary crash report identifying the 43-year-old Fort Smith man who was killed and the 73-year-old who was transported to an area hospital and treated for injuries after a Thursday head-on collision.
At just before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, a 2009 Nissan Altima driven by Courtnee Shane Chandler was headed southbound in the 4300 block of South 24th Street crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Nissan Titan pick-up driven by 73-year-old William Roe.
Chandler was taken to Mercy Fort Smith after extraction from the Nissan and died at the facility. Roe also went to the hospital and was treated for what the Fort Smith Pol;ice called non-life threatening injuries.
Corporal Kyle Story of th FSPD was the investigating officer and noted both the weather and road conditions were dry.
Chadler's death was the 78th for the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
