Arrest triggers fourth parole violation in less than 20-months for Fort Smith convicted felon
A convicted felon who has been arrested five times for serious charges since July of 2018 finds himself back behind bars today on a charge of Domestic Battering in the Third Degree after his arrest by Fort Smith Police on Thursday.
Thirty-eight year old Averill James of Fort Smith was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center Thursday at 7:40 p.m. and faces a no-bond hold for a Parole Violation plus a $1500 bond on the Battering charges.
In less than 20 months James has been arrested and/or convicted of the following charges:
-Domestic Battering in the Third Degree - Purposely
-Terroristic Threatening (2)
-Driving While Intoxicated (2)
-Driving While Suspended
-Contempt of Court
-Failure to Appear
-Parole Violation (4)
-Petition to Revoke (2)
Jams been remanded twice to the Arkansas Department of Corrections in the same time frame.
As far back as 2010, James managed to slide with a suspended imposition of sentence for theft of property and aggravated robbery and had three revocations of parole and kidnapping charges dropped at that time,
James faces a May 7 court date for his Parole revocation hearing.
