Burglary, Aggravated Assault leads to arrest of Fort Smith resident on Sunday



A Fort Smith man made his fifth foray into the Sebastian County Detention Center since August of 2018 on Sunday when he was arrested by the Fort Smith Police Department on on state felony charges for Aggravated Assault and Residential Burglary.


Leonard Eugene Jenkins spent two-hours and forty-six minutes behind bars on Sunday after being booked into the SCDC at 11:48 a.m. Jenkins was actually released on a $5000 bond within a hour of the charges against him being filed.


Previous arrests for Non-Support, Contempt, Failure to Appear, Failure to Pay Fines and Hols for Outside Agency dots Jenkins rap sheet in the past two years. He also has been the defendant in at least two Child Support cases filed by the Office of Child Support Enforcement in Sebastian and Arkansas counties.


No court date was listed in the booking information at the SCDC as to his trial date on the new felonies.
