Citizen with concealed carry permits stops Tulsa shooter at convenience store Friday night

A woman was shot and killed at a Tulsa convenience store Friday night after she opened fire on customers and bystanders say she was stopped by a concealed carry holder before she was able to inflict any injuries to the public.

Tulsa police have identified the woman as being 34-year-old Ashley Porter, who opened fire on a group of people near North Peoria Avenue and East 53rd Street North.

A man with a concealed carry permit told officers that he fired at the woman after she fired at customers outside the business, according to a Tulsa police spokesperson.Police also say video showed the woman involved in an earlier altercation in the parking lot of the business because of parking.

She left and then returned shortly after, firing at people standing outside the business, police said. The man with a concealed carry permit returned fire, shooting and killing the woman.

It appears that the same woman may have been an eyewitness to the 2016 murder of a Tulsa man stemming from an altercation about a car.

At least one Tulsa television station reported the Friday night incident as a "fatal shooting" giving none of the details that the woman was even armed or shooting at citizens. That station reported that the shooter had been "taken into custody" while officials say shooter was questioned by detectives and then released.
