Driving under the influence cited in Welling crash that leaves man in critical condition

A Welling man is in critical condition in a Tulsa hospital following a single-car crash in Cherokee County, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report states.

According to OHP, Luther Dallis, 30, was traveling southbound on Welling Road, approximately 2 miles east and 1/2 mile south of Tahlequah, at approximately 12:18 a.m. Thursday in a 2011 Ford F150. Dallis missed a curve, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, leaving him pinned in the vehicle for about 2 hours and 20 minutes.

He was taken to Northeastern Health System in Tahlequah, then flown to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

The OHP report states the cause of the crash was driving under the influence. Dallis was not wearing a seat belt, the report states.
