Family member assault triggers violation of condition of probation charge for Springdale man



Beating on a family member is never a good idea, especially when you are already on walking the streets on probation for previous crimes.


A Springdale man found that out the hard way on Friday when his Misdemeanor Assault on a Family or Household member set in motion a Violation of Suspended Sentence charge, a $7075 bail amount and free accommodations for the weekend at the Washington County Detention Center.


Donald Bates will be incarcerated at least until 7:45 a.m. Monday when he is scheduled for a Rule 8.1 hearing to answer to the charges. He also is charged with a Failure to Pay Cost and Fines misdemeanor.


The 29-year-old Bates had already been the subject of a warrant on Terroristic Threatening charges that was issued on March 19.


Third Degree Assault On A Family Or Household Member occures when a person commits person purposely creates apprehension of imminent physical injury to a family or household member.


The charges is a Class C misdemeanor.
