In a follow-up to a story your first read last night on Today in Fort Smith, a Bonanza man with multiple previous felonies and parole revocations is in custody an another unidentified susect remains at large after a multi-agency car chase and man hunt on the south side of Fort Smith that started near the Arkansas/Oklahoma state line.
Ron Peerson, 49, of Bonanza was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on Sunday eveneting and charged with Furnishing a Prohibited Article and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Reckless Driving Fleeing by Vehicle and Fleeing on Foot. Peerson was also issued a Felony Petition to Revoke based upon the violations of his probation status,.
The second suspect went undetected after he ran from the vehicle. The passenger escaped on foot off Highway 71 South before concluding on a dead end street at an apartment complex on Duke Avenue,.
According to a source in the neighborhood, Oklahoma and Arkansas state troopers, FSPD, Sebsatian County deputies, Barling and Greenwood officers were all involved in the manhunt.
Peerson is no stranger to local authorities, having been sentenced to a 120 month conviction from 2018 for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. His newest arrest came 27-months after that original sentence. He also had been sentenced to 36-months in prison in January of 2016 for the same crime and as a habitual offender. There was also a Felony Failure to Appear conviction in that mix as well.
He also was convicted for Theft By Receiving/Credit Car Fraud with a con-defendant about tthe same time as well as a revocation of Parole.
Those came on the heels of 2013 convictions for Terroristic Threatening and for the Violation of a Protection Order.
