Lions come up eight point shy in 88-80 road lost in Lawton to Cameron University Aggies



UAFS men's basketball lost the final road game of the regular season as the Lions fell to Cameron Aggies in Lawton by the score of 88-80.


The Lions were led by Brian Halums with 34 points on 10-18 shooting from the field, eight rebounds and four assists. UAFS is now 11-15 overall in the season and 7-13 in conference play heading into the final week of regular season.  Offensively, the Lions scored 80 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, 23 percent from downtown and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. The leading scorers for the Lions were Halums (34), Wilson (21) while Chris Rollins and Matt Morgan added seven points each.


As a team the Lions scored 34 points in the paint while the bench contributed 12 points for the game. UAFS distributed 11 assists, led by Halums (4).  On the defensive end, UAFS held their opponent to 80 points in the game on 55.8 percent shooting from the field. 36.8 percent from the three point line and 79.3 percent from the charity stripe.


The Lions recorded 23 rebounds and were led in that category by Halums (8) and Matthew Wilson (4) while Morgan added three rebounds. UAFS forced 12 turnovers and scored 19 points off those while also recording six steals, led by Seth Hawley (2).  UAFS men's basketball team is now heading into the final week of regular season competition hosting UT Tyler and A&M-Commerce on Thursday and Saturday.


Next Saturday the Lions will also be celebrating senior night and homecoming as they look to finish the season strong in pursuit of conference tournament berth.
