Man sought for missing meeting with parole officer arrested Sunday on misdeneanor drug charge


A Fort Smith resident who apparently likes breaking the law but alo has issues with authority figures and following the rules of society found himself back in familar surroundings on Sunday when he was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on drug charges that violated his latest parole.


Jimmie Lee Hendrix, 52, of Fort Smith is a frequent flyer at the SCDC having graced the facility seven times since March of 2018. Just like with this go around, five of those arrest have resulted in a parole violation. This will also be his fifth arrest for absconding, since he missed a scheduled meeting with his parole officer back on February 24.


The arrest on Sunday was for Misdemeanor Possession of Controlled Substance - Schedule IV / V Less Than 28 Grams. All of his arrests on record dating back to 2017 have een for possession of either drugs or paraphernalia or for failure to meet with his parole officer. Hendrix has served several stints with the Arkasas Department of Corrections.


In additon to the no-bond hold for the petition to revoke, the misdemeanor drug charge carries bail of $750.


The initial court date for Hendrix has been set for March 4.
