A Mansfield woman, suspected of murdering her mother, has been returned to Sebastian County authorities after an arrest in Texas.
According to previous reports, the body of Melinda Rogers, 57, was found around 5:00 PM on Christmas Eve at her home on Broadway Street in Mansfield. Later the same afternoon, Arkansas State Police received a call from a sheriff's department in Texas alerting local authorities to check on the well-being of Rogers.
The victim's daughter, Jordana Rogers, had been arrested for an alleged assault with a deadly weapon in Nacogdoches County, Texas after a man with blood on his face notified police of an attack.
Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office investigators then interviewed Jordana Rogers on Christmas Eve where she reportedly confessed to killing her mother.
A charge of First Degree Murder was officially filed on December 26th. Rogers was returned to Sebastian County and booked into the Adult Detention Center on Friday, January 3rd, after 1:00 PM.
An initial court date has been set for January 6th at 12:30 PM.
