Muskogee County man killed in shootout with OHP, US Marshals and Delaware County officers
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and news outlets in eastern Oklahoma are reporting an officer involved shooting that happened this afternoon in Cherokee County near Tahlequah.
According to the OHP, officers shot and killed a man near Allen Road and the Hwy 51 Bypass in Tahlequah who they believe shot at Fort Gibson Police on Monday
Troopers say that OHP, U.S. Marshals, and Cherokee County Deputies set up a roadblock to stop James Thompson, who was wanted on at least five warrants out of Muskogee. He was also wanted out of Wagoner County.
Troopers do not know at this time who opened fire first but say Thompson was hit and died as the result of his wounds.
