Mysterious death by fire in Dover residence being investigated by Pope County officials


Officials in Pope County are investigating a Thursday morning fire that occurred in the 2800 block of Larue Ridge Road in a rural area of Dover that took the life of an occupant of the residence.


A 911 caller reported they had arrived at the house to fiund there had been a fire and the occupant of the home was still inside. The fire was already out by the time the First Responders arrived, and the occupant of the home was found deceased.

The victim, a female in her mid sixties, was on a sofa in the living area and the investigation revealed the fire had been confined to the immediate area where the victim was located. Firefighters said the fire had not spread to any other part of the home,and investigators ruled there was no evidence of foul play.


The victim’s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock in order to determine the cause of death. The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
