No change in charge status for "person of interest" in July murder of Fort Smith school teacher
There has been no update or change in the status of the charges listed against Taylor Cynthia Elkins stemming from her arrest as a person of interest in the July murder of Fort Smith longtime educator and substitute teacher William Dubois and she remains in the Sebastian County Detention Center on $100,000 bond and an additional no bond hold.
There was some movement, however, in a pending case against her as the state has withdrawn a Petition of Revocation of Bond stemming from a June 13 crime spree earlier this year in which she was charged with a myriad of felonies.
Elkins was arrested and charges were filed on June 16 in Crawford County for three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, to counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one count each of Forgery and Criminal Impersonation.
She was on release on a $5000 bond prior to her arraignment and plea agreement on July 3. Her attorney, Robert Pressley, filed a motion of discovery on the case the same day and she entered a not guilty please five days later. One other motion and two notices were added to her jacket before the withdrawal of the Petition to Revoke Bond on July 29.
Elkins was charged with Hindering Apprehension of Prosecution and Theft by Receiving after she was found in possession of a red 2013 Ford Focus that belonged to William DuBois. She was booked into the SCDC on July 11.
