Oklahoma Highway Patrol releases information on Monday night deadly Leflore County crash
Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol say a Wister man died from a one vehicle accident on Monday night on US Highway 271, approximately one mile north of Leflore Road in rural LeFlore County.
According to the OHP report, James Caughern, 56, of Wister, was driving southbound in a 2016 Ford pickup on US 271 and failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the highway before striking a fence and a tree.
Police say the truck tolled two times two times before coming to rest upside down and Caughern was ejected almost 30 feet during the rollovers.
Caughern was pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency first responders from Lefore EMS at just after 9 p.m. , according to the report.
