Law enforcment officials in Washington County say a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Highway 16 in Elkins after running out of fuel, but after an assist by the Elkins Police Department and first resonders was able to fly off into the wild blue yonder.
Police say the pilot was able to coast into the Dollar General parking lot after landing on State Highway 16. Once the plan was refueled, law enforcement escorted the single engine craft back on the roadway and blocked traffic so he could take off again.
Officials report there were no injuries, damage to the plane, or damage to any businesses or structures during the incident which occured shortly after 9 p.m.
