Pope County homicide investigation results in $150,000 bail for a 44-year-old suspect




Pope County murder suspect Jason William Royalty

Pope County Sheriff Shane Jones has released the name of the victim in the homicide, which took place on Monday, June 3.


Jeremy Wayne Davis, age 41, was found deceased by Pope County Deputies at a residence in Hector. Jason Royalty was taken into custody at the scene and appeared before Judge Don Bourne on Wednesday, June 5.

According to information released by Jones, "the Pope County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Monday concerning a shooting at a residence in Hector.


Upon arrival, deputies located the body of Davis.


Jason Royalty was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Pope County Detention Center where he was detained on a charge of 1st Degree Murder. . His bond was set at $150,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Pope County Circuit Court on July 1.

This is an ongoing investigation and no other details will be released at this time.


Sheriff Shane Jones wishes to thank officers and investigators with the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Russellville Police Department, Arkansas State Police and the 5th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, who are working together on this case.
