Second degree sexual assault, choking results in double felony arrest for Fort Smith resident.



A Fort Smith resident is in the Sebastian County Center on a no-bond hold after being arrested by the Fort Smith Police Department on two separate felony counts on Tuesday.


According to booking information from the SCDC, Ryan Tyler Souerdyke, 30, of Fort Smith was booked into the detention center at 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday and charged with Sexual Assault in the Second Degree - Forcible Compulsion and Aggravated Assault - Choke, Class B and Class D felonies respectively.


He is being held on a no-bond hold for the Class B felony as well as an additional $2500 legally sufficient bond on the second charge.


It is unknown who Souerdye assaulted, but Arkansas code 5-14-125 says sexual assault in the second degree occurs when one engages in sexual contact with another person by forcible compulsion. A Class B Felony in Arkansas is punishable with up no less than five but up to twenty years in prison.


The penalty for a Class D felony is up to six years in prison.
