The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations and the District Attorney's office has cleared Sequoyah County deputies Thomas Stafford and Robert Johnson after a January 7th shooting involving reports of an armed and dangerous person.
Multiple calls were received by authorities on the morning of the incident, stating a man pointed a gun, later revealed as a BB gun, at them as he walked down a rural road in Liberty. As the deputies arrived to assess the situation, the man then pointed the gun toward the deputies and began to move on their position.
After Deputies fired on the man, it was reported that he instructed paramedics to take his life. He has since recovered.
