A fifty-one year-old Springdale man died Saturday morning in a crash in rural Madison County along a strech of US Highway 412 when he over-corrected, crossed over the eastbound lanes and wound up in the ditch on the south side of the roadway just before 11 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle was identified by the Arkansas State Police as Chad E. Smith of Springdale. The identification of the Benton County man took several hours pending notificattion of his next of kin.
According to the ASP report, began to rotate counter-clockwise and went through the grass median before crossing over the eastbound lanes and overturning. The vehicle ended up on it's top next to the roadway.
Smith was transported to the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale in anticipation of treaatment of his injuies but later died at the facility.
According to ASP Trooper Drew Widner, weather conditions were clear and road conditions dry at the time of the accident, which happened just west of Huntsville.
