Storms leave nearly 12,000 in the dark with reported power outages throughout region

The round of storms that passed through the area has resulted in a lot of structural damage and downed trees. which has also resulted in power outages throughout the area.


A spokesperson with OG@E said12,854 customers are without power as of 3:20 p.m. on Friday. Poutages are reported in Arkoma, Barling, Bloomer, Dyer, Fort Smith, Lavaca. Mountainburg, Poteau and Winslow as well as connected rural areas. Currently, almost 8200 OG&E customers in Fort Smith --mainly on the south side--are without power.


OG&E says crews are working hard to restore power in all areas. PLEASE call and report downed power lines in your area.


Severe thunderstorms are still a possibility heading into late Friday night in a number of areas.
