Wister accident sends two to Fort Smith hospitals after DUI-related accident on US Highway 271



According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Wister man was involved in an auto accident Sunday, at approximately 7:31 p.m. on U.S. Highway 271 in Wister.


According to the report, a 2001 Ford Pickup, driven by Kevin Luman. 33 of Wister went left of center, striking a 2015 Jeep Renegade driven by Charlotte Holly, 43, of Krebs, head on.


Luman was treated and released, according to the OHP report.


Holly was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Mercy Hospital of Fort Smith and was admitted in stable condition with injuries to trunk and legs.


A nine-year-old passenger from Poteau was also transported by LeFlore County EMS to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, where she was admitted in stable condition with trunk and internal injuries.


According to the report odor of alcohol from the Luman vehicle and the cause of the collision - driving while under the influence of alcohol.
