On July 17, 2006, officials with the Kentucky State Police received a complaint of a woman down at her residence on 173 McCollum Road in Ledbetter.
Police were advised that a neighbor had gone over to check on the woman who lived in the home and found the door ajar and that the woman was down inside the residence.
Margaret S. Anderson, 61, was attacked in her residence with an unknown sharp object. The attack resulted in multiple stab wounds to the chest, back, and hands of the victim, and Anderson was dead when first responders arrived on the scene.
Police had very little to go on as way of evidence, but did state they believed someone broke into the house and the killing may have been the result of a home invasion gone bad. The home where the stabbing occurred is about three-guarters of a mile south of the the Ohio River between State Highway 60 Clark's Ferry Road
The Kentucky State Police is asking anyone with information regarding the murder of Anderson to contact: Detective John W. Sims at 270-856-3721.
