Mary Elizabeth "Me Me" Loper was reported missing May 29, 2002 by her mother and sisters.
She was last seen at her house in the 200 block of Clarence Bonnett Road in the small town of Lucedale, located between the Movella and Barton communities in southern George County.
Carl Loper, her husband, said his six-year-old son woke him up at 4:00 a.m. the next day. The couple's four-month-old baby was crying and Mary was gone. She has never been heard from again.
Investigators have not released any recent developments in the case and Loper's family members say having no answers only leads them to more questions.
Had an accomplice abducted her in vengeance? Did she know something that someone wanted kept quiet? Why did her husband refuse to talk to family? Was it drug related?
Questions... but no answers.
Carl Loper, 29-years-old at the time, was arrested for manufacturing marijuana the day his wife was reported missing and was booked into the George-Greene County Regional Correctional Facility after having his bond revoked from a prior indictment for possession of methamphetamine and escape.
Mary Loper's family stated shortly after her disappearance Carl Loper refused to allow them to speak to him while he has been incarcerated. Police officials at the time claimed that no evidence existed to suspect foul play and eighteen years later it is still it's a missing person case
Loper had blonde hair and blue/green eyes. and a scar on her abdomen, a strawberry birthmark between her right knee and ankle, and a tattoo on her ribcage.
She had a two-inch cut above her right eye at the time of her May 2002 disappearance; it had been stitched shut with twelve stitches. She wears oval-shaped wire-framed eyeglasses, and her ears are double-pierced.
She was last seen wearing a light yellow t-shirt, cutoff blue jeans, white sneakers and a wedding band with a diamond.
Family and friends say Mary Loper enjoyed making others happy, that her three sons were her life's main joy and she always looked for positive and happy things in life. They claim Mary did not leave on her own because of her love for her sons.
