In 1963, then 16-year-old Phyllis Marie Corbin was placed at the House of Good Shepard in St. Louis, Missouri. It was a shelter for juveniles located on 3800 block of Gravois Ave. in St. Louis.
She had behavior issues that caused her to be sent to the juvenile shelter a couple of times.
According to the official record, in late Sept. 1963, Phyllis was scheduled to be released after spending a month at the facility. According to paperwork, Phyllis left for home. The next day, someone allegedly saw her at a local bar.
There has also been speculation that Phyllis and another unnamed girl decided to runaway. They both reportedly headed to New Orleans, Louisiana. The two may have gotten a ride to the Greyhound bus station to get to New Orleans.
It's reported that the other girl returned three weeks later by herself, but that is unconfirmed. The home supposedly reported the girls missing, but the family hasn't been able to confirm.
Either way, Phyllis did such a good job of running away that she hasn't been seen in the intervening 56 and a half years.
Phyllis was a white female and was 16 years old at the time of her disappearance. She had reddish brown hair, and blue eyes. She was around 5'5" and 5'8" and 100-155 lbs.
Officials at the time said there was no indication of foul play in the disappearance and there are very few clues in the six-decade old mystery.
