At the age of 32, a Kansas girl who moved to Midwest City life's was cut short.
In the daylight hours back in November, 2000, Nancy Helme Probst was beaten and shot to death, while her 9- month old baby was in the room next to where she was killed.
Court documents show her husband, Matthew Probst, was originally charged in connection to the murder and spent time in jail, but was released.
The date was November 16, 2000. On that date, Bill Clinton became the first U.S. President to visit Vietnam since the end of the Vietnam War, but all of the news attention in western Oklahoma was focused on the killing of a young mother in an Oklahoma City suburb.
A police investigation seemingly revealed her philandering husband, Matthew, was not home at the time and later testified he saw her body through a window before entering the home. He called police and waited down the street for them to arrive.
Phone records show that Matthew called his wife 26 times between 3 and 6 p.m. on the day of her murder.
He was the prime suspect and was held in jail for 13 months before the judge ruled there was not enough evidence to convict him.
There had been other break-ins in the neighborhood and some women were sexually assaulted. Nancy's body was not sexually assaulted, so her crime did not follow the pattern of the others.
Police are retesting unknown DNA that was found at the crime scene to this day.
While the case of Nancy Probst's murder still remains unsolved.Midwest City police say this is still an active case as they are continuing to look at evidence in their forensic lab.
