Twenty -seven year-old Kimberlee Sue Turner fit the textbook definition of a "pixie".
Small, pert and whimsical, Turner stood 5"1" and weighed 90 pounds and when she left her trailer park in Virginia City, Mississippi to walk to Sheila's Grocery during the mid-morning hours on September 29, 1993, she vanished into thin air.
Kimberlee Sue made it to the store that morning and bought a pack of cigarettes then left, once again on foot. She has never been heard from or seen since.
Turner's purse was left behind at her mobile home, which she shared with her boyfriend Joe Donogriche, in the small Jackson County subdivision a few miles north of Ocean Springs.
She didn't take any extra clothes when she disappeared. In fact, she left a damp load of laundry drying on the outside clothesline.
Donogriche was considered a suspect in her disappearance, but he maintains his innocence and stated at the time he missed her and wanted her to return. He was questioned and later released.
Donogriche said he believes Turner, who was known to hitchhike, simply got into the wrong car with the wrong person.
Her case is unsolved and being investigated as a possible homicide.
