Fitness instructor Terri “Missy” Bevers was killed at a Midlothian, Texas church over four years ago and police are still searching for answers.
Bevers, a mother of three who lived in Red Oak, died of puncture wounds to her head and chest early the morning of April 18, 2016. She was found unresponsive at Creekside Church of Christ, where she had arrived around 4 a.m. to teach an early morning “boot camp” fitness class.
Earlier that morning, surveillance cameras recorded a person walking through the hallways wearing what looks like police riot gear.
On the footage, the person walks with a distinct gait, with the feet turned out, away from the body, more so on the right foot, police said. Most of the thousands of tips police have received have been related to the person's gait.
Police estimate that the distance from the floor to the top of the person's headgear is approximately 5 feet 8 inches, plus or minus about an inch and a half.
Police haven’t named a suspect in the case. They once investigated a person of interest, a retired Lancaster police officer who had a similar gait and the man was eventually charged in connection to pornography found on his computer, but he was ruled out from the homicide investigation after police confirmed “he was where he said he was that morning,”
Police don't know whether Bevers was killed by a stranger or someone she knew.
Midlothian investigators have brought in other agencies and organizations to review the Bevers case, but that hasn’t yielded any substantial new information.
