"Walked away" in the middle of the night, never to return

Seven years before the birth of the most famous son of Sulpher, Louisiana, future Dallas Cowboy quarterback Dak Prescott, the small town in extreme southwest Louisiana was the site of a mysterious and still unsolved disappearance in 1986.


It was a Saturday in Calcasieu Parish. The town, named for the sulfur mines that were operated in the area in the 1900's, lies just a little east of Texas and a little north of the Gulf of Mexico. After overnight temperatures around 54 degrees, the sun popped out on Saturday morning and combined with the low humidity sending the heat just north of the 75 degree mark.


By that night, the temperature had dropped back down in the 50's but despite the pleasant weather, things got heated that night between 19-year-old Londa Lynn Young and her live-in-boyfriend, Several hours after the couple had a heated argument the wee hours of the morning, the boyfriend reported her missing and said she simply left their house and never returned.

He said she was last seen walking down Evelyn Street, where they lived, at about 3:00 a.m. after exiting the home they shared after the argument.


Police weren't too concerned in the beginning because Youngwwas known as a wanderer who often traveled far from home. Originally from Florida, he had left home and been classified a runaway several times in her teens, but this time around she She left a six-month-old daughter behind.


Authorities at the time questioned all the usual suspects and were unable to come up with any substantial leads in the disappearance and are uncertain to this day as to what happened to Young.


In 2004, authorities did receive a tip that she was murdered around the time of her disappearance but no body was located and she is still classified as missing and endangered 34-years after she walk away into the night.


In 1986, Young, who went by the nickname "Silver" stood approximately 5-11 and weighed just a little over 105 pound. She had auburn/brown hair and brown eyes with a tattoo of a rose on her left arm and a tattoo of a butterfly on her left ankle.
